My name is Rae Mosher. In April 2012, my amazing and wonderful girl, Bell*, was born and my whole being changed to incorporate ‘mother’ into my bio descriptions – it now tops the list of “about me” qualities. In the photo with us is my smart, handsome, funny, and loving husband, Sean. I am so lucky to have this family.
I have taught high school English since 2006, when I completed my Masters in Teaching, Before that, I was a waitress, and always will be, as I grew up in my family’s restaurant. I simultaneously love my job and am indignant about educational policy (especially in NC, where we live – 48th in teacher pay – at the moment) and the real life struggle of trying to pay our bills on the salaries of a teacher and a small, local business (my husband is self-employed). We could fix education if we required advanced degrees for teachers, paid them accordingly and treated them like professionals and experts in education.
For as long as I can remember, I have been happiest with myself when I write. For as long as I can remember, my writing has been sporadic and undisciplined. We always know what to do to be our best selves, but following through is not as easily done as said.
